OVERVIEW
This week’s message centers on Psalm 33 and the idea that faith is a dialogue—a back-and-forth between God and His people. Just as the Psalms themselves are structured like the five books of Moses, they reflect how Israel remembered God’s powerful acts and responded with worship, trust, and obedience.
Psalm 33 reminds us that faith is not silent—it is a dialogue between God and His people. Rick shared how the Psalm opens with an invitation to joyful, expressive worship. The righteous are called to give thanks, sing new songs, and celebrate God with glad hearts. Our praise is not merely emotional; it is a fitting response to who God is and what He has done. The Psalm roots this worship in the character and actions of God: His Word is upright, His works are faithful, and His love fills the earth. By that same powerful Word, He created the heavens, shaped the waters, and brought all things into existence. When we see God clearly, awe naturally follows.
The Psalm then shifts our attention from creation to history, reminding us that God stands above the nations and their plans. Human strength—whether armies, kings, or war horses—cannot save. But God watches over those who fear Him and place their hope in His steadfast love. He delivers, sustains, and sees every heart. Because of this, faith ultimately leads us to wait on the Lord. Waiting is not passive; it is trust in motion. As the Psalm concludes, we join the ancient Israelites in praying that God’s unwavering love would rest upon us as we continue hoping in Him.
This is the dialogue of faith—praise, awe, trust, and the quiet confidence of waiting on God.
