OVERVIEW

The Church That Conquers

Message by Pastor Rick Cunningham

Revelation 2:1–3:22

In this week’s message, Ps. Rick Cunningham walks us through Jesus’ letters to the seven churches in Book of Revelation, reminding us that these words are not just for them—they are for the Church today.

Like a coach calling a timeout, Jesus speaks directly to His Church—affirming what is faithful, correcting what is compromised, and calling His people back to Himself. He sees everything. He knows our works, our struggles, and our hearts.

The number seven represents completeness, showing that these letters reflect the condition of the entire Church. Some churches endure hardship faithfully, while others drift—losing their first love, compromising with culture, or becoming spiritually lukewarm.

The central message is clear:

Follow Jesus no matter the cost—the return is everything.

To be a conquering church means:

  • Enduring faithfully through trials and pressure

  • Turning away from compromise and anything that replaces devotion to Christ

  • Living with eternal perspective, not chasing comfort, power, or approval

Jesus calls His Church to a “long obedience in the same direction”—a life of steady faithfulness. True victory does not look like worldly success, but like unwavering commitment to Christ, even in weakness or suffering.

In the end, every promise is given “to the one who conquers.” And conquering does not mean power—it means remaining faithful to Jesus until the end.

So the question remains for all of us:

Are we following Jesus… or slowly turning back?
