About Today’s Message:
Series: David: Turning Points | Lesson 4: Helping the Hurting
Sermon Title: Helping the Hurting
Speaker: Pastor Jamie Allen
Text: 2 Samuel 9:1–13
Date: August 24, 2025
David was a mighty king, but he also had a tender heart. In today’s lesson, he seeks out Mephibosheth, the crippled son of his dear friend Jonathan, to keep a long-standing promise and extend grace. Rather than ignoring someone society would overlook, David invites Mephibosheth to dine at his royal table and restores to him what was once Saul’s—demonstrating true kindness and compassion.
This powerful act of mercy shows us how God calls His people to care for the broken, the forgotten, and the hurting. We live in a world longing for compassion—often more than words, it’s our actions that become our greatest witness.
Join us as we explore how David’s kindness reflects the heart of Christ and consider: Are we responding to needs—or seeking them out?

Lesson #5: Releasing Resentment
Next week we close out our series David: Turning Points with the message “Releasing Resentment.” Few things are harder than forgiving someone who has wronged us, yet David’s encounters with Shimei reveal the danger of holding onto bitterness and the freedom that comes when we let go. Join us as Pastor Jamie Allen challenges us to release resentment and forgive as God forgives us.
