🗣 Message by Jamie Allen

📖 Key Verse: “I want you to understand what really matters.” – Philippians 1:10 (NLT)

This morning, we continued our sermon series “Essentials” with a powerful message on the next vital step in our faith journey: Repent.

Pastor Jamie Allen reminded us that while believing in Jesus is a great place to start, it’s not enough on its own. Even the demons believe—what sets us apart is repentance: a true turning of our hearts and lives toward God.

We asked important questions like:

What is repentance, and why does it matter?

How can we recognize real conviction in our lives?

What does it look like to truly turn away from sin and walk in a new direction?

Using the story of the lame man healed in Acts 3, Jamie showed us how repentance is central to the message of the gospel. Peter’s call to the crowd was simple: “Repent of your sins and turn to God.”

We explored three key elements of real repentance:

  • Conviction – When the Holy Spirit helps us see our sin clearly and personally.

  • Contrition – Feeling genuine sorrow and brokenness for our sin, like David in Psalm 51.

  • Change – Turning from our sin and walking in a new direction, proving our repentance through a transformed life.

Repentance isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. God doesn’t expect us to be sinless, but He does expect us to grow and sin less as we walk with Him.

🌀 Why should we repent?

  • So our sins may be wiped away

  • So we may experience times of refreshment

  • So we can enjoy renewed relationships with God, others, and ourselves

Jamie reminded us of a powerful truth: repentance brings freedom. Like Jimmy in the story of the duck, we are no longer slaves to guilt when we confess and turn to God.

🔁 Challenge This Week:

Are you just feeling guilty, or are you truly ready to change?

Ask God to show you areas of your life that need repentance—and then take a bold step in a new direction.
