Lesson #3 Examining Jesus' Hands
Big Idea: The hands represent behavior. We’ve talked about Jesus’ heart and head. Once our hearts are full of compassion and our minds are aligned with Christ’s motives, our behavior must reflect that transformation. Living like Jesus isn’t just a theory—it’s a lifestyle. In Luke 6, four key moments show us exactly how Jesus modeled godly behavior in relationships.
What We Learn from Jesus’ Hands:
🛡 Protecting Hands
Jesus defended His disciples when they were criticized for picking grain on the Sabbath.
➡ He chose grace over legalism. Legalism drains life from people—Jesus gave it back.
Leading like Jesus means protecting those you love.
🩹 Healing Hands
Jesus healed a man’s withered hand despite knowing He’d face backlash.
➡ Healing people mattered more to Him than public opinion.
What we do is louder than what we say.
📚 Mentoring & Teaching Hands
Jesus chose His apostles and poured into them with instruction, modeling servant leadership.
➡ Jesus didn't just say the right things—He lived them out.
Behavior is the clearest form of discipleship.
✝️ Sacrificing Hands
Jesus taught the Beatitudes and radical love for enemies. These weren’t just words—He demonstrated them with His life and ultimately on the cross.
➡ Real love costs something.
Our behavior should reflect the sacrificial love of Christ.
Scripture Focus
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart... for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”— Luke 6:45
Our hands are the proof of what’s in our hearts and minds. When Jesus is at the center, our behavior should mirror His.
Hard but Holy: Confrontation in Love
Why don’t we confront difficult people? Pastor Jamie reminded us that loving confrontation is biblical.
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault...” — Matthew 18:15 When done in love, confrontation becomes a form of protection—not rejection.
Final Challenge
What do your hands say about your walk with Jesus? Are they used to serve, heal, protect, teach, and love like His? Let’s make our faith visible in our behavior—every day, in every relationship.
