OVERVIEW

Jesus, Lord and Savior

Message by Pastor Collin Brennan

As we enter March and continue our Bible in a Year journey, Pastor Collin reminded us that spiritual growth often happens in seasons that feel slow or challenging. When reading difficult passages — especially in the Old Testament — we are encouraged not to rush, but to ask why. Every law, instruction, and detail reveals something about God’s character, His holiness, and His purpose for His people.

Alongside this spiritual encouragement, Pastor Collin shared several important updates in the life of our church family, including upcoming membership conversations, by-law revisions to ensure alignment with Scripture, community Lenten services, spring cleaning efforts, and a special outreach event coming in April. Each opportunity serves a greater purpose: helping us grow together as a church centered on Christ.

The heart of the message, however, focused on a deeper question:

Why do we devote so much time and energy to the work of the church?

Because we serve a God who is greater than everything — greater in love, power, and authority. God is not merely a part of our lives; He reigns over them. Humanity was not “almost good enough.” We needed rescue, and God provided that rescue through Jesus Christ.

Drawing from Philippians 2:9–11 and Romans 3:21–26, Pastor Collin emphasized that Jesus is not only Savior but Lord. Through Christ’s sacrifice, we are justified by grace through faith — not by our own righteousness, but by God’s mercy.

Lordship means surrender. Jesus is not simply someone we turn to in crisis or forgiveness for yesterday’s mistakes. He holds authority over every part of our lives — our choices, priorities, and direction.

The message concludes with a powerful personal reflection:

Is Jesus truly Lord over your entire life, or only over the parts you choose to give Him?

As a church, we are invited to respond by living lives fully surrendered to Christ, acknowledging Him as Lord in both belief and daily practice.
