Our Camp Firelight Vacation Bible School was a huge success! Each evening was filled with songs, Bible stories, crafts, games and even science experiments—everything centered around Psalm 56:3, “Whenever I’m afraid, I put my trust in you”.
Day 1 – Jacob and the Ladder: Trust God to Go with Us
We kicked off the week by exploring Jacob’s dream of a ladder stretching to heaven (Genesis 28). The children learned that God is always with us, no matter where we go. After the Bible story, campers worked on ladder-themed crafts, sang the lively “Camp Firelight” theme song, and enjoyed outdoor games that reminded us to lean on God.
Day 2 – Ruth and Naomi: Trust God to Lead the Way
The next evening focused on the faithfulness of Ruth and Naomi (Book of Ruth). Through skits and small‑group discussions, we talked about trusting God to guide our steps. Kids made friendship bracelets to symbolize loyalty and enjoyed a relay race that illustrated following God’s lead.
Day 3 – Young Jesus in the Temple: Trust God to Have Wisdom
On Wednesday we looked at Jesus as a young boy in the temple (Luke 2:41‑52). Campers discussed how God gives us wisdom when we seek Him. A science experiment showed how light travels (a nod to Camp Firelight’s lightning‑bug mascot, Lumen), and everyone learned the motions to the song “Go Go Go With Us”.
Day 4 – The Disciples in the Storm: Trust God to Give Us Peace
Thursday’s story came from Mark 4, where Jesus calms the storm while His disciples fear for their lives. We emphasized trusting God to give us peace even when life feels out of control. Crafts included making “peace jars” filled with glitter and water, and the evening ended with a quiet prayer walk around the church.
Day 5 – Philip and the Ethiopian: Trust God to Spark Joy
Our final night celebrated the joy of sharing the Good News. We studied how Philip told the Ethiopian official about Jesus (Acts 8:26‑40). Kids assembled “good news” scrolls to take home and sang “Trust in You” one last time. We closed the week with a celebration service where the children led the congregation in worship.
